Virtek Vision IRIS AI Panel Inspection System
New Product: Virtek Iris Ai Panel Inspection System
Virtek Vision has unveiled its IRIS AI Panel Inspection System. According to its developers, the system combines its proven vision technology and laser projection systems with AI to inspect prefabricated wooden panels within seconds. The overall aim of IRIS is to eliminate costs and time related to manual inspection, provide a digital record of inspected panels, and ensure defects are detected before panels leave the factory.
Key information:
- Virtek Vision has released its new IRIS AI Panel Inspection System.
- The 3D laser projection, vision positioning, and quality inspection system supplier's new release aims to eliminate costs and time related to manual inspection processes.
- Additionally, the system claims to provide real-time alerts regarding any issues during the inspection process, allowing the user to resolve any problems quickly.
The IRIS system uses multiple cameras to capture prefabricated panel assemblies, with the entire structure (including any nails) captured in the inspection booth. Then the system’s AI software identifies anomalies and applies progressive learning algorithms to evaluate the location of all nails. Finally, as the panel leaves the booth, the system utilises its laser projection system to locate the position of “shiners” and the position of any issues or areas that require attention.
"For nearly 40 years, Virtek's laser solutions have been instrumental in streamlining the construction of roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels,” said Dietmar Wennemer, President and CEO of Virtek Vision. “Today, by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, we transform a very labour-intensive, cumbersome, manual inspection procedure into a completely automated process with a system that is incredibly easy to use. And the great thing is, because this system is built on our proprietary IRIS AI inspection platform, we can easily adapt it to other applications, with limited retraining."
Additionally, IRIS claims to provide real-time alerts of any potential issues in the upstream process, like the nailing process. This is thanks to the system’s quick inspection process, which should allow users to investigate and solve issues quicky.
"Inspection can be a bottleneck in the overall production process,” said Darian Butt, Senior Director of Product Management at Virtek Vision. “This is a game-changer for panel manufacturers because it eliminates inspection time and expense, minimises time-intensive rework and dramatically improves the quality of the finished product."
