SHINING 3D
3D digitisation and 3D inspection company SHINING 3D has announced the launch of the FreeScan Combo metrology 3D scanner.
The introduction of the new product expands the company’s FreeScan UE metrology 3D scanning series.
Adopting metrology-grade accuracy, fine scanning and high precision, SHINING 3D believes the FreeScan Combo boasts all the quality of its fellow FreeScan UE metrology scanning series, but with an even lighter and more compact design. The company also says the scanner can meet the needs of different scanning scenarios, including metrology-grade inspection and reverse engineering, thanks to its speed, versatility and accuracy.

Speed is considered to be among the FreeScan Combo’s key features, with a scanning speed of 1,860,000 points per second using laser scan mode and a scanning speed of 2,250,000 points per second with infrared mode. These speeds are teamed with high accuracy, with the FreeScan Combo meeting the VDI-VDE 2634-2 of 0.02 mm guideline, to capture a vast amount of data per second.
SHINING 3D also noted the FreeScan Combo’s ergonomic and compact design, with the scanner designed to specs of 193 x 63 x 53 mm and a weight of 620g. The FreeScan Combo’s different scanning modes include 26 laser lines for easy and large size scanning; seven parallel laser lines for scanning fine details; a single laser line to obtain 3D data from narrow areas such as holes; and an infrared mode for scanning without markers.
Supported by a user-friendly software, integration with more commonly used 3D inspection and design software can be enabled to import scan data more efficiently.
