The new multipurpose facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Renishaw has unveiled its new sustainable facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The global engineering technology company’s new location features an industrial metrology showroom, spaces to support additive manufacturing, and areas for events and conferences. Additionally, Renishaw will also be able to offer services including retrofitting at the new facility.
“This facility illustrates our commitment to sustainability and enables Renishaw to demonstrate our extensive range of metrology, spectroscopy and additive manufacturing products to customers in South America,” said Fernando Tachikawa, Director at Renishaw Brazil. “We want to ensure our customers that attend this facility have access to the best solutions for their manufacturing and productivity challenges, as well as showcase how we can all make improvements to reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing industry.”
Break-down of Renishaw’s new sustainable facility:
- Includes a warehouse (550 m²), an industrial metrology showroom (260 m²), and an area larger than 200 m² for retrofitting and service activities.
- Additionally, there is a specialised location for metal additive manufacturing (AM) systems.
- Event and conferencing facilities.
- The facility is designed to ensure that the building will see a 48% reduction in power needed (relating to interior lights), a 35% reduction in power needed for air conditioning, and uses 60% less water and utilises water stored in a 15 m³ reservoir.
- Features 180 solar panels which can generate up to 120,000 kWh of electricity per year.
- The facility has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certificate.
The building was officially opened in March 2024 and could go on to obtain BD+C NCv4 and LEED level Gold certification once fully commissioned.
