Xiris has launched its new Pre-Weld Inspection system for High Frequency (HF) Tube Mills. The optical equipment developer claims that its new system will measure and track the position and temperatures of various features of the tube while it heats up and is formed at the induction coil.
Key information:
- Xiris has announced its Pre-Weld Inspection system for HF Tube Mills.
- The optical equipment developer hopes that it will meet the needs of tube fabricators to monitor tubes going into the weld box on an HF tube mill.
- The system aims to measure and track the position and temperatures of various features of the tube as it heats up and is formed at the induction coil.
Xiris claims that its system is easy to set up and define tolerance levels as it uses a thermal camera designed to measure temperatures in the range of hot metals. All results are then reported in real-time to the user, with thermal image video and extracted feature data also being able to be recorded. All of which boosts quality assurance. Dimensional features, strip edge temperatures, weld point, and resulting bead are allegedly more effectively monitored, with the user able to detect if the tube welding process is still controlled.
The Pre-Weld Inspection system is built to withstand harsh environments due to the robust housing which surrounds the camera according to developers, with air used to keep the optics area clean. Additionally, the system features several interface options (via an HMI controller) to integrate with the tube mill and plant process monitoring systems.
Overall, Xiris hopes that its new product will meet the needs of tube fabricators to monitor tubes going into the weld box on an HF tube mill.
