MKS unveils the Ophir 150K-W laser sensor.
MKS Instruments Inc. (MKS) has unveiled the new Ophir 150K-W Very High-Power Laser Sensor. Designed to measure high-power levels up to 150kW with enhanced accuracy and improved performance reliability, the laser sensor is ideal for applications including high-power fibre laser development and testing, directed energy systems, as well as cutting and drilling industrial production.
“Directed energy and industrial applications, such as cutting, are driving demand for higher-power lasers, yet to date, there has been no dependable solution for power levels above 120kW,” said Reuven Silverman, General Manager at Ophir Photonics Products. “The Ophir 150K-W Very High-Power Laser Sensor takes high power measurements to the next level. It provides R&D and production teams at high-power laser manufacturers and directed energy weapons developers with accurate and dependable results. Whether integrated into third-party systems or used with user-friendly Ophir software, the sensor is a powerful tool for very high-power laser measurements, delivering reliability and operational efficiency.”
Key features of the Ophir 150K-W Laser Sensor:
- The water-cooled, calorimetric sensor boasts measuring powers from 10kW to 150kW over the spectral range of 900-1100nm.
- Uses either tape water or deionised (DI) water to cool.
- Boasts a low back reflection of <0.5%, providing enhanced operational safety.
- Features a beam dump and measurement unit.
- Designed with flexibility in mind, the sensor is lightweight (weighing under 60kg) and measures 520 x 545 x 750 mm.
The new laser sensor includes two components, a beam dump and a unit to measure power levels. The former handles high-power laser absorption and heat dissipation, while the unit utilises its RS232 interface and Smart Connector interface to leverage the company’s Centauri, StarBright, StarLite and other Ophir smart displays; Juno and Juno+ compact USB PC interfaces; Juno-RS, Pulsar, and Quasar virtual power and energy meters; and EA-1 Ethernet adapter.
