Ophir BeamPeek software.
MKS Instruments has announced the launch of its new laser beam analysis software, Ophir BeamPeek Software. The new product has been specifically designed to fulfil the needs of field maintenance. The software is set to provide accurate, fast, real-time measurements of lasers in additive manufacturing chambers.
Key information:
- Ophir BeamPeek Software is set to provide improved real-time measurements of lasers in additive manufacturing chambers, with a desire to help field maintenance.
- After analysing a variety of beam parameters, the software provides a view of the beam’s intensity distribution, shape, and size.
- Results can also be loaded into Ophir BeamGage Professional software for further post-processing capabilities.
The BeamPeek software works by analysing the most critical beam parameters for process optimisation. These parameters include beam parameter product (BBP), ellipticity, M2, power density, Rayleigh length, waist location, and waist width. When the analysis is complete, technicians are provided with a comprehensive view of the beam’s intensity distribution, shape, and size, allowing for quick identification of deviations and irregularities.
"Additive manufacturing chambers present a challenging environment for high-power laser-based systems and the field team responsible for optimising performance," said Reuven Silverman, General Manager of Ophir Photonics. "BeamPeek Software allows users to obtain critical beam measurements in the shortest time possible with little or no user intervention. If desired, they can also enter their own custom measurement locations with ease. The end result is clear and concise data that technicians can trust as it is ISO 11145 and ISO 11146 compliant."
Laser power and beam caustic can be simultaneously measured with BeamPeek Software. The new launch features a caustic display, 2D beam display, and stacked 3D beam display which can all display beam measurement results. With the intuitive interface able to be customised for the specific needs of the user.
The results display panel will show the key laser parameters including average power density for a given frame, beam width, BPP, ellipticity, K for the caustic measurement, M2, power density at the waist, total power, waist location, waist width, X alignment, Y alignment, and Z location.
Further results and analysis are available through Ophir BeamGage Professional software, which is compatible with result files from BeamPeek Software. The BeamGage technology includes all the calculations needed to make accurate, ISO-approved laser beam measurements. These measurements include power and spot diameter, power density, spot position and many more.
Additionally, the software also includes advanced image processing features, data logging, multilingual support, NIST-traceable power measurements, pass/fail production testing, and trend charting. The BeamPeek Software is also compatible with Ophir BeamPeek, which is a high-power laser beam analysis and power measurement system. Typically used in additive manufacturing, the system can complete power measurements in three seconds, and it also provides beam profiling and focal spot analysis.
BeamPeek Software doesn’t include a water or fan cooling system, as it contains a replaceable passive cooling beam dump tray. This eliminates downtime between measurement sessions.
MKS’ latest launch is supported by a variety of Ophir’s software including BeamGage Professional, BeamPeek Software, BeamPeek Tool, and StarLab.
