Leica Geosystems' GS05.
Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has launched its compact, lightweight GNSS Smart Antenna. The Leica GS05 features a calibration-free tilt compensation and aims to ease the load for surveyors completing drawn-out, complex tasks. Additionally, the new launch boasts a robust design with improvements to durability and reliability, which is ideal for a range of applications from surveying and mapping to construction and utility staking out.
“Given the high and increasing demand for geospatial services, surveyors must work smarter, not harder. This compact yet powerful device makes surveying more efficient and less physically demanding,” said Bernhard Richter, Vice President of Product Management Geomatics Division at Leica Geosystems. “Incorporating several Leica Geosystems’ innovations in one, it guarantees precision and versatility while enhancing practicality and user comfort.”
Key features of the Leica GS05:
- Incorporates ultra-high-frequency (UHF) radio or 4G modem, WLAN and Bluetooth, internal memory 10 Hertz (Hz) positioning, and NMEA output.
- Weighs only 0.75 kg.
- Claims to reduce operator fatigue, improve measurement accuracy, and speed up application times.
- Features a robust and durable design.
- Includes a tilt compensation of up to 30 degrees, allowing the user to measure points more accurately and speed up data collection.
- It can also be used as a base or RTK rover.
The GS05 is compatible with several of Leica Geosystems’ other products including the Leica Captivate field software and Leica total stations. With the new launch being compatible with existing systems, the GS05 maximises efficiency levels and ensures that users don’t need to make additional investments.
