Kubotek Kosmos is set to unveil its new WebAssembly component, which forms part of the 6.0 release of its 3D Framework libraries, at IMTS 2024. The latest addition allows the WebAssembly standard to support the development of high-performance and secure SaaS applications in various environments like the web. The rapid growth of precise engineering and manufacturing applications (e.g., for desktop, client/server, and web-embedded architectures) is possible when combined with 3D Framework’s optimised modelling, CAD translation, and WebGL display components.
The geometric software technology provider’s cloud-ready solution can reduce the number of transactions required between client and server applications. The system has enough memory to execute directly either embedded in a website, within a web browser extension, or inside a light client app. Other factors like load times and processing performance (especially related to interpreted languages like JavaScript) will see improvements.
Perhaps the biggest advantage of the WebAssembly system, relating to client-side processing, is that it provides precise query operations like mass properties, pattern recognition, and tessellation without a performance delay with no communication problems causing issues. Also, the solution helps to reduce costs related to host servers.
“We believe this WebAssembly component is a milestone of speed and portability for the building blocks of specialised cloud-based precise 3D applications,” said Ram Eswaran, CTO/COO at Kubotek Kosmos. “Previous-generation geometric modelling kernels are too monolithic and entrenched in traditional operating systems to be adapted to new platforms so rapidly. We are excited to be helping established desktop development partners quickly deliver these capabilities for their key customers.”
If you are attending IMTS 2024, from 9-14 September, you will find Kubotek Kosmos at booth 133151.
