KPM Analytics unveils its AI-enabled at-line vision inspection system, the TheiaVu WD-300. The solution is the first of its kind to be designed specifically for meat and poultry applications. According to the scientific instrumentation specialist, the use of traditional manual inspection methods is making processes time-consuming, subjective, and with a limited amount of data, which contributes to the ongoing challenges relating to quality control, consistency, and labour shortages that the industry is facing. The TheiaVu WD-300 aims to ease these burdens.
The second generation of this system includes improvements to precision, reliability, and speed, with up to 10x faster product checks compared to manual systems. These new features, specifically designed to target the meat and poultry industry, eliminate the need for callipers and colour charts, and also avoid issues related to subjective assessment.
Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), the TheiaVu WD-300 vision inspection system can analyse product attributes quickly and accurately to detect quality indicators like product thickness, fat distribution, and cook colour. Measurements of product size, shape, and the presence of blood spots or foreign materials can also be completed.
Additionally, users can select optional add-ons that allow the system to interface with integrated weighing scales or product temperature probes to fulfil more quality assessment needs.
Key benefits of the TheiaVu WD-300:
- Reduces the risk of product rejection by ensuring compliance with pre-determined customer specifications.
- Greater sampling rates by utilising AI-powered analysis.
- Having access to more data allows the users to gain a more representative picture of overall product quality.
- Offers a user-friendly setup with product specifications taking minutes to add rather than hours.
- Includes AI libraries for meat and poultry products, with digitally stored data.
- Built with the meat and poultry industry in mind, the system is designed to operate in harsh environments with its washdown-ready housing and removable, easy-to-clean conveyor belt.
“Our system can increase sampling rates by tenfold or more compared to manual methods while also expanding the range of measurements taken,” said Jon Gilchrist, Technical Solutions Director for Protein Vision Inspection Systems at KPM Analytics. “This level of data collection and speed is simply not possible with manual inspection or modified, basic camera systems while adding in objectivity and reliability that reduces waste and positively impacts profitability.”
The TheiaVu WD-300 systems are equipped with measuraAITM which allows the user to utilise the AI capabilities to train their own AI models using the provided templates of their products.
