FARO launch its Orbis Mobile Scanner
FARO Technologies (FARO) has revealed its FARO Orbis Mobile Scanner. Designed to provide users with 3D reality capture capabilities, the hybrid SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) scanner can be used in mobile and stationary data capture settings. Additionally, the scanner offers local and cloud-based data processing and collaboration features and is enabled by LiDAR technology.
The 3D measuring specialist’s Orbis solution offers users the ability to switch between walking and stationary scanning while continuously acquiring 360° images, ten times quicker than a traditional static laser scanner.
“Orbis demonstrates our commitment to innovation and expanding our served markets,” said Peter Lau, President & Chief Executive Office of FARO. “It reflects the fusion of FARO's technologies with the capabilities brought by our recent acquisitions, GeoSLAM and HoloBuilder. It offers all the unmatched functionality of a mobile scanner, the precision of a tripod-based laser scanner and sets a new standard for 3D reality capture technology and workflow management that will transform the way people work across a range of industries. Orbis is the convergence of efficiency, data quality and simplicity and we are thrilled to bring this to the market.”
The Orbis Mobile Scanner is ideal for users within the geospatial, architecture, engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, public safety, and mining industries. Users now have access to highly accurate and detailed scans that can be captured on mobile devices.
